SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST

(Job Code AB005)

Main duties of Job:

 

·         Leads a research project involves a team of 3-5 researchers

·         In charge for a Company’s critical research project “to develop the rapid lateral flow immunoassay for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection.

The project aims to develop two prototype products: 1) to identify and select specific outer membrane proteins of H. pylori, and their application in the lateral flow immunoassay test kit for detecting serum IgG and IgM of H. Pylori;  and 2) Rapid test kits for direct detection of H. Pylori by identifying an particular epitope of outer membrane protein of H. Pylori.

(Upon the completion of this projects, other project will be assigned)

·         Solves problems appeared in the R&D stage of the projects. 

·         Trains research team on advanced technologies regarding the rapid and accurate diagnosis of H. Pylori..

·         Coordinates with a research group in an University of Medical Sciences (located in China) to design the sub-projects and clinical trials that will be conducted in the China.

·         Manages project and periodically reports the process, prepares project reports.

·         Performs any other duties assigned by R&D director.

 

 

Experience/skills requirement:

 

·         Ph.D. in Medicine/Molecular Biology;

·         5 years of direct research experiences in the area of recombination of outer-membrane proteins of H.Pylori, and the identification of target protein of outer-membrane of H.Pylori for the lateral flow immunoassay;

·         Direct experience and extensive knowledge on the clinical diagnosis of H. Pylori infection;

·         Excellent skills in gene cloning and expression, primer design,  DNA recombination, RT-PCR,  primary cell culture, hybridoma technique, ELISA, immuno-fluorescence techniques, Western-blot, protein purification, and co-immunoprecipitation, , etc

·         Direct experience in the following areas is preferred

o   Experience in the development of monoclonal antibodies against infectious diseases  ;

o   Experience in the selection of best matched pair of monoclonal antibodies for their application in the immuno-assay;

o   Experience in the study of affinity, specificity, and cross reactivity of monoclonal antibodies,

o   Experience in the development of lateral flow Immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of antibody or antigen.

o   Experience in the study of the best conditions to coat antibodies onto NC membrane, and to conjugate antibodies to gold-colloidal or florescent dye, etc.

·         Knowledge about the regulatory affair work regarding the application of medical device license in China, the direct experience is highly preferred

·         Excellent written and spoken fluency in Mandarin and English.

Wages and working conditions

 

  • The employee will work at our research laboratories located at 3938 North Fraser Way, Burnaby BC.
  • The salary for this position, inclusive of any statutory vacation pay, is $65,000 per annum payable, subject to statutory deductions, in bi-weekly installments not in advance; in addition, there is a $10,000/annum project accomplishment bonus as taxable fringe benefits in connection with the employment. 
  • Subject to statutory holidays, the hours of employment are 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with 30 minutes off for lunch and 10 minute coffee-breaks (one to be taken in the morning and the other in the afternoon) each full working day.
  • The employee has up to two weeks ordinary vacation each year.  For the first year vacation time shall be pro-rated. All vacation time must be reserved 4 months in advance; no ordinary vacation may be taken during the first 12 months.
